Several years back on the NYU site, I had found this statement: "women's studies has now moved on to an attempt to rethink and reevaluate all of human experience through the lens of gender." And we see that has happened fully at NYU.

Today there is an extensive research on how gender is constructed in organizations. Research that show how the social constructions of gender become intertwined within the everyday organizational life (Acker 1992; se also Gunnarsson et al. 2003; Wahl et. al 2001). This research also argues that the social constructions of gender limit organisations ability to bring about development and innovations.
Despite the extensive research available on how gender affects organizations this knowledge has not yet been applied and used in development work in organizations (Meyerson & Colb 2000). By using gender theory in joint learning processes with organizational members, new and more gender aware and sustainable organizational innovations can be developed.
When inequality is considered to be unacceptable, making it necessary to organize the everyday organisational life in different ways, new innovations can emerge. That is the development of new gender aware ways of organizing things, with support from gender theories, can contribute to innovations. A gender aware organisation can therefore be seen as an innovation in itself. >>
